The Vicentine Route
“There is no favorable wind for those who do not know where they are going”
(Lucio Anneo Séneca)
The Vicentine Route is a trail that runs along the west coast of Portugal, between cliffs and long, secluded beaches. It covers a total of about 400 km and can be divided into two routes: one inland and one along the coast.
The latter, 125 km long, known as the "fishermen's trail" (trilho dos pescadors), runs from Porto Covo to Cape St. Vincent and is traversed on foot along the coast and cliffs. Fishermen once used it to access their ports and boats along the coast.
As we walk along the road, charming towns appear before us, such as Zambujeira do Mar, Ocedeixe, or Villa Nova de Milfontes, and beautiful, secluded beaches lapped by the Atlantic where we can enjoy a swim or surf, taking advantage of the power of the waves.
The rich gastronomy of this region, in the Algarve-Alentejo, and the friendliness of its people are more than enough reason to visit these lands and enjoy a great experience.
It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and well-preserved coastal areas in Europe, and an ideal place for hiking.
